Lalela was also the first woman to wear the new Ricardo crown. She was also the second runner up at the Miss Universe pageant in December 2021, which sparked controversy in South Africa.
While Mkhize made Mister Supranational history this year as he became the first black male to win the pageant and the first South African to be crowned Mister Supranational.
Bryoni previously told The South African that it has been an honour and blessing to represent South Africa at two international pageants.
“It feels unreal, it’s such an incredible honour, a blessing and a testament to the hard work and dedication that I have put into my journey. It feels surreal to have the opportunity to represent South Africa on such a global stage once again. I am immensely grateful for all the support that has come my way thus far,” she said exclusively to The South African.
“This experience has taught me so much about resilience, determination, and the benefits of putting my best in everything I do,” she continued.
