Shoprite is inviting unemployed South African graduates to apply for Internship Programme 2025. ​Shoprite is now accepting applications for its 2025 Youth Employment Service (YES) Internships—a transformative 12-month programme designed to equip South African youth with essential retail skills and real-world experience. This initiative is part of Shoprite’s broader commitment to tackling youth unemployment through structured learning and job creation.​

We invest greatly in South Africa’s unemployed youth through various development programmes and support training and education linked to youth unemployment through pivotal initiatives. Opportunities include our Retail Readiness Programme and the Youth Employment Services (YES) initiative.

Overview: This skills programme provides young people, who are without previous work experience, with the basic skills to work in a retail environment. It comprises of five weeks of practical training and two weeks of theory, and successful participants receive a NQF level 3 qualification upon completion.

Requirements: South African youth between 18 and 34 years with No previous work experience. Grade 12 / Matric or an equivalent qualification.

Overview: The Youth Employment Service is a business-driven initiative with government and labour departments that builds economic pathways for youth to help reduce unemployment. The programme provides 12 months of on-the-job training where participants are exposed to various parts of the retail business. On completion, successful YES learners are skilled to work in retail or start their own retail business.

Requirements: South African youth between 18 and 34 years. Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification. A Retail Readiness Programme (RRP) qualification
