Shock as funeral ends with three bodies!

CAPE Town residents are shocked after two men were killed at a funeral on Saturday, 8 February, in the Ravensmead area.

According to a Daily Sun source from the area, the funeral was proceeding well until a gunman who was among the mourners pulled a firearm and shot at the father of the man being buried.

The man, who was dressed up in all black, pretended to be a mourner to get close to the victim,

“He didn’t miss. He shot at the father at close range, and he died at the funeral right away. Mourners were shocked and panicked at first, but they quickly gathered their courage and apprehended the killer before he could run away from the scene,” said the source.

The shooter, who is believed to be a gang member, tried to run away from the scene but was quickly caught by angry residents.

He was allegedly moered to death by the mourners.

The source told Daily Sun that by the time cops arrived, the shooter was already dead.

He was reportedly moered and died at the same place where the funeral proceedings were taking place.

Residents have been left traumatised by the incident, with others expressing utmost disgust at the lack of respect for the dead shown by the gunman.

In a video viewed by SunTeam, the victim’s body lies covered with a white sheet, with blood flowing from it, while people gather around, crying. Nearby, the shooter’s body is seen lying uncovered and unattended a few metres away.

“He should have respected the funeral and mourners even if he had issues with the father of the deceased person. This is shocking. We have never witnessed such an incident. The funeral ended up with three bodies,” said the resident.

The Ravensmead Community Police Forum (CPF) spokesman Lucian Davids said they are dismayed and have condemned the incident.

“This morning, a father was shot dead at the funeral of his son. The perpetrator was caught by community members present, disarmed and beaten to death. These are the two bodies in the video that has circulated on the internet this morning,” said Davids.

He added that this is the first time such an incident has ever happened in their area.

“This is the first incident of this nature, and as Ravensmead CPF, we condemn in strongest terms this terrible precedent. It is an unspeakable act to do while someone is being laid to rest,” said Davids.

Police spokesman Captain Frederick Van Wyk confirmed the incident, which he said is under investigation.

“Ravensmead registered two separate murder cases for investigation following a shooting incident that occurred this morning Saturday, 8 February, at 8:45 am at Beverly Court, Ravensmead. A 54-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded by a 26-year-old man. The alleged shooter was beaten to death on the scene of the incident. The motive is believed to be gang related.

“According to reports, the deceased attended his son’s funeral at the mentioned address when the suspect shot and fatally wounded him with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. The suspect then ran away but was chased and apprehended by the community who attended the funeral and was beaten to death,” said Van Wyk.

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi Breaks His Silence on Julius Malema

In a recent interview with SABC News, Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, former national spokesperson and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), confirmed his resignation from the party. He stated his intention to leave party politics to focus on academia and contribute to civil society.

Ndlozi revealed that he was suspended from the EFF six weeks prior to the party’s National People’s Assembly in December 2024. The suspension was based on allegations that he was involved in an infiltration strategy by the MK Party and that he was aware of then-deputy president Floyd Shivambu’s plans to depart from the EFF. He described the suspension as unconventional and not in line with the party’s code of conduct.

Addressing rumors, Ndlozi clarified that he has no intention of joining the MK Party and emphasized that his departure from the EFF marks a complete step away from party politics. He expressed a desire to focus on community development, research, and advocacy, stating that party politics do not have a monopoly on contributing to social change.

This interview provides insight into Ndlozi’s decision to resign and his future aspirations beyond the political arena.

Floyd Shivambu Accuses Cyril Ramaphosa of Failing SANDF Soldiers

Floyd Shivambu, the Secretary-General of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, has openly criticized President Cyril Ramaphosa for the deaths of 14 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldiers. These soldiers were killed by M23 rebels in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) while on a peacekeeping mission. Shivambu alleged that under former President Jacob Zuma’s leadership, such a tragedy would not have occurred.

    **Shivambu’s Criticism of Ramaphosa**
Shivambu did not hold back in his criticism, blaming Ramaphosa’s leadership for the soldiers’ deaths. He claimed that South Africa currently lacks a strong commander-in-chief, stating that the last effective leader of the armed forces was Jacob Zuma.

“South Africa does not have a leader. We are undermined by small countries, which is why we lost soldiers in the DRC. We do not have a commander-in-chief,” Shivambu said. He further argued that the government deployed soldiers without adequate protection, leading to unnecessary casualties.

    **Zuma’s Leadership Praised**
According to Shivambu, Zuma commanded respect on the African continent, which would have prevented such a disaster. He suggested that under Zuma’s leadership, the soldiers would not have been placed in harm’s way in the first place.

“The government sent soldiers to be killed by criminals. This would never have happened under Zuma because he was respected in Africa. President Zuma remains sharp and firm in his beliefs,” Shivambu added.

    #### **Ramaphosa Faces Further Criticism**
Ramaphosa’s decision to deploy troops to the DRC has been widely questioned. Some critics have even accused him of having personal financial interests in the region’s mining industry. Rwanda has also alleged that South Africa’s military involvement in the DRC is linked to these economic interests.

During his recent State of the Nation Address (SONA), Ramaphosa faced backlash when he mentioned the presence of South African soldiers in the DRC. Many in Parliament heckled him, demanding answers regarding the military deployment.

    #### **Controversy Over SANDF’s Role in the DRC**
The SANDF has been at the center of controversy since the release of a viral video showing soldiers waving a white flag, leading to speculation that they had surrendered. However, the military force has denied these claims.

Additionally, the South African National Defence Union (SANDU) has expressed concerns over the lack of resources available to SANDF forces. They argue that the soldiers are not well-equipped to handle the challenges they face in the DRC.

The bodies of the 14 fallen soldiers were confirmed to be repatriated on February 5.

    #### **Calls to Withdraw Troops from the DRC**
Several political leaders have called for the withdrawal of SANDF forces from the DRC. Among them are Helen Zille and Julius Malema, who have both expressed concerns over the government’s handling of the situation.

Malema criticized Defence Minister Angie Motshekga for her response to the crisis, arguing that the army should return home immediately. Zille later shared his statement on social media, signaling her agreement.

    #### **Conclusion**
The deaths of 14 SANDF soldiers have intensified debates about South Africa’s military involvement in the DRC. Floyd Shivambu has used this tragedy to attack Ramaphosa’s leadership, insisting that Zuma’s tenure was marked by greater respect and stronger military decisions. As criticism grows, the government faces mounting pressure to justify its foreign military engagements and ensure that similar tragedies do not happen again.

Debate Heats Up: Julius Malema and Elon Musk Face Off

The feud between Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema and South African-born billionaire Elon Musk began in July 2023, when Malema chanted the struggle song “Kill the Boer” during the EFF’s 10th-anniversary celebration. Musk criticized Malema on social media, accusing him of promoting the genocide of white people in South Africa. In response, Malema dismissed Musk’s comments, suggesting he educate himself about the historical context of the song and calling him “illiterate.”

The song “Kill the Boer” has been a subject of legal scrutiny in South Africa. In 2022, the High Court ruled that the song’s lyrics did not contravene the Equality Act, stating that AfriForum failed to show a clear intention to harm or incite violence. Despite this ruling, the song remains controversial, with critics arguing that it incites violence against white farmers, while supporters view it as a significant part of the country’s liberation history.

The public exchange between Malema and Musk has highlighted differing perspectives on South Africa’s complex history and the interpretation of its liberation songs.Recently American billionaire Elon Musk posted that Eff president Malema is an international criminal who must be sanctioned. This statement has sparked a debate on social media see some comments below:
