DJ Narrowly Escapes Fatal Car Accident
Popular South African influencer and DJ, Nkanyezi Kubeka, is counting his blessings after narrowly escaping death following a severe car accident. The Johannesburg-based artist and social media star revealed that the incident, which left him in considerable pain, took place in the early hours of Monday, 23 September, after he had attended the Delicious Festival and its after-party celebrations
The accident occurred in Rosebank at approximately 4 am. According to DJ Nkanyezi, another car ran through a red traffic light, forcing him and his companions to attempt to swerve out of the way. Unfortunately, their vehicle lost control and crashed. “We tried to avoid him, but it was too late. There were three of us in the car, and our ride is beyond repairs,” Nkanyezi told *Daily Sun*.
He also mentioned that the accident has taken an emotional and physical toll on him. “It’s draining me emotionally and mentally,” Nkanyezi said. He revealed that he has been experiencing excruciating pain in his back and legs due to the injuries he sustained. “I fractured my left leg, and I’m having difficulty walking or even sitting. On Saturday, 29 September, Nkanyezi took to social media to share the news with his followers, explaining that he was treated at Netcare Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg. His friends who were in the car with him also suffered minor injuries but are expected to recover fully.
Reflecting on the accident, Nkanyezi expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support he’s received since the incident. “I want to thank everyone—my family, friends, and all my supporters in the music industry—for their warm well-wishes and prayers. The love and support I’ve received has been overwhelming,” he said.
Despite the ordeal, the DJ is staying optimistic and focusing on his career. He admitted that the accident has been a sobering reminder of how quickly life can change, but he’s using the experience as motivation to push forward. “It’s days like these when you realize how fast things can go from good to bad,” he added.
Nkanyezi also revealed that despite his current condition, he is working on new music. “I am back in the studio working on fresh sounds for the summer of 2024 and 2025. It’s an exciting time for me as a DJ, and I’m looking forward to focusing on my projects,” he shared.
With his leg in recovery and still grappling with pain in his right hand, Nkanyezi remains committed to his craft and promises his fans new and exciting projects in the near future.
