Cornet Mamabolo’s Journey from Acting to Business Ventures

Cornet Mamabolo, known for his role as Thabo ‘Tbose’ Maputla on the popular SABC1 series *Skeem Saam*, recently made headlines by stepping away from acting to focus on his burgeoning business ventures. Having grown up on the show, Mamabolo’s character resonated with audiences as they witnessed his journey from a privileged teenager in Turfloop to a responsible adult balancing fatherhood, education, and work.

Born in Limpopo, the 31-year-old actor initially pursued a BA in Dramatic Arts at the University of Witwatersrand. However, financial constraints hindered his studies, leading him to embrace acting full-time after landing his role on *Skeem Saam* during grade 10. Reflecting on his early days, Mamabolo expressed gratitude for the opportunities he received, despite the challenges he faced as a young artist navigating the complexities of the television industry.

Today, Mamabolo is channeling his creative energy into entrepreneurship. He founded Digni Financial Services, an insurance company that offers funeral policies and employee benefits. His interest in the insurance sector stemmed from recognizing gaps in the market, particularly in how policies were tailored to meet the needs of African families. Mamabolo noted that traditional structures often overlooked the complexities of extended families and polygamous relationships, prompting him to create solutions that better serve his community.

Balancing his professional life, Mamabolo treasures his role as a father to two daughters, Omphile and Lesedi. He describes fatherhood as a transformative experience that has taught him invaluable life lessons. “Children ground you; they make you a better person,” he shared. This newfound perspective has motivated him to engage in community initiatives, such as starting a foundation aimed at improving education in rural areas. His foundation works to provide schools with essential resources like books and stationery, highlighting the disparities faced by students in underprivileged regions.

When he’s not busy with work or fatherhood, Mamabolo enjoys cycling and hiking, activities that allow him to connect with nature and maintain his physical health. He believes that staying active is crucial and often invites fans to join him on cycling adventures, fostering a sense of community among his supporters.
