Zizipho Buti Joins the Cast of Showmax’s ‘Soft Life’

Well-known South African actress Zizipho Buti is making her mark in the entertainment industry. Zizipho is set to captivate audiences once again in Showmax’s highly anticipated new series, Soft Life.

Showmax recently dropped the first-look teaser, building excitement for the show’s premiere on 18 November, with fresh episodes airing every Monday.

At just 29, Zizipho has already made a name for herself, first appearing in the Mzansi Magic series Nkululeko, and later in the hit soapie, Generations: The Legacy.

Now, she’s stepping into a major role in Soft Life, a series that promises to dive deep into the realities and challenges of modern life.

Reflecting on her character Owami, Zizipho said: “Owami has made me realize that there are so many young people who have found themselves in such compromising situations. I hope that the story will encourage people to have honest conversations about this.”

Mampho Brescia, known for her role as Iris on Isibaya, stars alongside Zizipho as Zam, the owner of NubiaBlaq, a business front for her exclusive escort agency, The Girlfriend Experience (GFE).

“Soft Life is a forward-thinking show where we address everyday issues happening in society, holding up a mirror to the public. It’s fascinating to see how certain subcultures have evolved and become more openly discussed than they were in previous years,” said Zizipho.

The series also features Safta-winning actress Nambitha Mpumlwana, who playsthe role of Judge Iris Makhaza, the fiercely protective mum of Owami’s boyfriend.

Created by Vusi Zion fof Afriprime and produced by Urban Brew Studios, Soft Life is a 13-episode drama directed by Safta winners Nozipho Nkelemba and Nthabiseng Mokoena.

Nthabiseng said: “The cast really immersed themselves in the characters they portrayed. It was amazing to witness their talent. Viewers should also be excited about the new faces that’ll bring joy, laughter, and sometimes heartache to our screens.”
