Ziyakhala: Angry wives bring Mseleku into tears!
POPULAR polygamist Musa Mseleku has reached a point where he can no longer maintain authority over his disgruntled wives.
Instead, he finds himself in tears.
Mseleku breaks down during heated argument
Mseleku, who now has five wives, shocked many people when he broke into tears during a heated argument with his four wives.
The heated argument revolved around the introduction of Musa Mseleku’s fifth wife, Samke Khwela.
The three wives questioned Mseleku and his wife, Busisiwe “MaCele” Cele, why they invited people to meet Samke without informing them first.
Since bringing his fifth wife into the family, only his first wife has supported his decision, while the other three protest.
Emotional scene on Uthando Nes’thembu
In the latest episode of Uthando Nes’thembu, aired on Wednesday, 19 March, on Mzansi Magic, Mseleku’s three frustrated wives, Nokukhanya “MaYeni” Mseleku, Thobile “MaKhumalo” Mseleku, and Mbali “MaNgwabe” Mseleku, posed numerous questions.
Rather than responding and asserting himself, Mseleku broke down in tears while his first wife, MaCele, left the meeting, leaving him with the three protesting wives.
Mseleku explained that his tears were not due to the questions but because the three wives teamed up against MaCele, blaming her and him.
âNo, the problem Iâm facing is that they want to blame someone else, not me. Iâm the one who has a polygamous marriage.
âWhatever is happening, whatever is wrong. Iâm the one to be blamed, no one else. Because Iâm always wrong, and I have accepted that,â he said.
Cultural experts weighs in on polygamous lifestyle
Cultural expert Professor Gugu Mazibuko from the University of Joburg told Daily Sun that Mseleku’s tears stem from the fact that his polygamous lifestyle is artificial and culturally misleading.
âHis polygamy is artificial in the sense that it is not the way Zulu people conduct polygamy and ask the permission of other wife/wives.
âIn the Zulu nation polygamy, there is the biggest role played by the family elders where there is a wife to be introduced. Elders are the ones who lead that and give reasons why there is a need for another wife. If it’s the husbandâs vision to have another wife, he shares that vision with the elders and the elders will speak with the wife in the right way and find comfort in those who are against the new wife,â she said.
Entertainment vs reality: The portrayal of polygamy
Prof Mazibuko said Uthando Nesâthembu undermines the proper Zulu nation procedure to have polygamy, and it will mislead many people who will think that Zulu people do that when they are in polygamy.
âWhat is happening in the show I think it is for entertainment purposes, but it’s not the real way to handle polygamy in the Zulu nation.
âThe portrayal of the polygamy on Uthando Nes’thembu might mislead other people who will think that is the real procedure, and if you can sit down with those who are in the polygamy in the Zulu nation, you will get a different version,â she said.
