Zimbabwean Businessman Maxwell Mlangeni Fights for His Life After Shooting in Mpumalanga

Zimbabwean businessman Maxwell Mlangeni, the founder of Today’s Destiny Logistics, is in critical condition after being shot multiple times while driving his Ferrari in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga. The brutal attack occurred on Tuesday afternoon outside his company’s premises.

Businessman Maxwell Mlangeni Hospitalized
Mlangeni was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in the intensive care unit (ICU). Medical professionals are working tirelessly to stabilize him. The attack left his luxury vehicle riddled with bullet holes, underscoring the severity of the assault.

Details of the Attack
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli stated that the attack took place shortly after Mlangeni arrived at his business premises on Bethal Road, eMalahleni (formerly Witbank).

“Preliminary information suggests that three armed suspects approached his vehicle and opened fire while he was still inside. The suspects then fled the scene,” Mdhluli said.

Investigation Underway
Authorities have launched an investigation, treating the case as an attempted murder. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no arrests have been made so far.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation. Detective Colonel One Thobejane of eMalahleni detectives can be contacted at 079-891-5845.

About Today’s Destiny Logistics
Today’s Destiny Logistics, founded in 2011, started as a small logistics provider but has since expanded its services to include procurement, warehousing, and distribution for large organizations.

The company, which initially operated with just one truck, has grown into a major player in the logistics industry. It now employs over 300 people and manages a fleet of more than 200 vehicles, including tippers, refrigerated trucks, tankers, and flatbeds.

Crime in Mpumalanga on the Rise
Mpumalanga has seen a surge in violent crimes, with business owners and prominent individuals increasingly being targeted. Hijackings, armed robberies, and contract killings have become common, raising concerns about public safety.

eMalahleni, in particular, has been a hotspot for violent incidents, as criminals take advantage of the region’s bustling economic activity.

Community Concerns
The attack on Mlangeni has sparked concerns among business owners and residents, who fear for their safety in the face of rising crime rates. Authorities are under pressure to curb violence in the province and bring perpetrators to justice.
