Witness Testifies Seeing Kelly Smith Dragging Joshlin into Shack Before Her Disappearance

Key Testimony Revealed in Western Cape High Court

A crucial witness has testified in the Western Cape High Court regarding the events leading up to the disappearance of six-year-old Joshlin Smith from Saldanha Bay. Middlepos resident, Paulina Tshosa, took the stand and shared a chilling account of the night before Joshlin was reported missing.

Tshosa testified that she witnessed Joshlin’s mother, Kelly Smith, forcibly dragging the young girl into a shack on a Sunday evening. According to Tshosa, the incident unfolded during what appeared to be a heated argument between Kelly Smith and a man she believed to be Kelly’s partner.

“I saw the little girl’s pink flip-flop fall off as her mother pulled her inside the shack. There was shouting, and it seemed like they were arguing,” Tshosa explained. The shocking scene stayed with her, and she later recognized the individuals involved during televised court proceedings.

Three Accused in Court Facing Serious Charges

Kelly Smith, her boyfriend Jacquen Apollis, and Steveno van Rhyn are the three accused currently standing trial for the kidnapping and human trafficking of Joshlin Smith. The case, which has gripped the nation, is being heard at the Western Cape High Court. All three face serious charges of abducting the child and trafficking her for unknown purposes.

During cross-examination, Tshosa was questioned by the defence attorney representing Steveno van Rhyn. The defence aimed to challenge her recollection of the events that night. However, Tshosa maintained that she was certain about what she saw and insisted that the people she witnessed were indeed the accused.

“I later saw them during court on TV. I remembered their faces,” Tshosa told the court firmly.

Public Interest and Media Coverage Intensifies

The trial continues to attract widespread attention, with many South Africans following the developments closely. Videos of the court proceedings and updates on the case have been shared across various news platforms and social media channels. The case has sparked outrage, with many calling for justice for Joshlin Smith.

The disappearance of the young girl has left the community of Middlepos devastated and desperate for answers. Her sudden vanishing without a trace led to a large-scale search and eventually to the arrest of the three accused.

Ongoing Trial and Awaited Verdict

As the trial continues, more witnesses are expected to take the stand in the coming days. The state is working to build a case proving that Joshlin was deliberately kidnapped and trafficked, while the defence is determined to dismantle the accusations against their clients.

The next phase of the trial will likely delve deeper into the relationship dynamics between Kelly Smith, Jacquen Apollis, and Steveno van Rhyn, as well as their alleged involvement in the tragic disappearance of the child.

South Africans wait anxiously as the court proceedings continue, hoping that justice will be served for young Joshlin Smith and that the truth behind her disappearance will finally be revealed.
