‘Rhythm City’ star Itumeleng Bokaba reveals that she got paid 59 cents for vocals on Kwesta’s song featuring DJ Maphorisa.
Singer and former Rhythm City actress Itumeleng Bokaba says she was paid only 59 cents for her vocals on Kwesta’s hit song, Mayibabo.
‘RHYTHM CITY’ ACTRESS: ‘AT LEAST I MADE 59 CENTS’
The former YoTV personality and Rhythm City actress known as Okashi reveals in a TikTok video that she received 59 cents after requesting credit for her contribution to Kwesta’s hit song Mayibabo, where she sang the chorus.
She also reveals in the video that she fought for recognition by asking SAMRO (South African Music Rights Organisation) to credit her, but only received 59 cents in revenue.
Bokaba adds that she discovered that the money owed to her had been given to DJ Maphorisa, real name Themba Sekowe.
“I was told by Nota that the money was given to Themba, at least I made 59 cents after trying to get SAMRO to add my name,” she adds.
The song performed by Kwesta also features DJ Maphorisa, DJ Buckz, and Okmalumkoolkat.
