MABJESSIE Tyekana, also known as Man B, recently sparked controversy.
The businessman and soccer enthusiast has publicly threatened to Klap media personality and entertainer Somizi Mhlongo.
The fallout occurred during a birthday celebration at Absa Stadium in East London on 1 and 2 March.
Man B vented his frustration on social media, accusing Somizi of being a “thief” and “acting like a god”.
This happened following what he described as a disappointing and disrespectful appearance at the event.
Man B Entertainment also released a statement addressing the controversy.
“Man B Entertainment deeply regrets the unfortunate events that unfolded at our recent event, which was meant to celebrate Man B’s birthday while giving back to the community of the Eastern Cape. Our goal was to create a world-class experience by bringing renowned artists to the region, not for profit, but to create employment opportunities,” read the statement, in parts.
However, Man B was far less diplomatic in his personal video rant.
“I used to respect Somizi, but after what he did, I hate him from today. He’s disrespectful, and it’s time we start respecting our local artists. Somizi is acting like he’s the president — who does he think he is? He’s acting like a god, and what he did is nothing but stealing,” he said.
Man B warned Somizi’s close associates, urging them to pass his message on to him.
“Those who are close to Somizi must tell him to stay away from me because if we meet, I’ll give him a hot klap. He stole from us — we work hard for our money — then he showed up for two minutes and left for another event. I don’t even want the money back. He can enjoy it.”
In response, Somizi took to his social media platforms to set the record straight.
He claimed the event was poorly organised and left him frustrated.
“Man B, you need to speak to the person you were dealing with. I cancelled a Joburg gig to attend yours after being told the event would end at 6pm. When we arrived, there was no one there to meet us. When we finally got hold of someone, they were still at the hotel. I even paid for my own Uber to get to the venue. When we got to the hotel, we found out the rooms weren’t even paid for,” said Somizi.
He said all the artists were unhappy with the treatment they received.
“It was the most disorganised event I’ve ever attended. I had to arrange my own transport and security, nothing was provided. I told the production manager I’d introduce one artist and leave because none of the agreed obligations were met. I knew drama was coming,” said Somizi.
The performer also stated that he wouldn’t pay back the money he received for the gig.
