Vusi Ma R5 case: Here’s the latest!
IT’S been two years since Vusi Ma R5’s family laid him to rest.
The Bacardi pioneer, whose real name was Itumeleng Mosoeu, was brutally killed on 30 January 2023.
According to previous reports, on the day he was killed, he was sitting with his friends outside a tavern at Extension 13 in Soshanguve when he went across the road to his car.
The others allegedly heard gunshots, and when they went to investigate, they found him lying on the ground.
Vusi Ma R5 was known for his catchy Bacardi songs that became hits, like Tse Nnyane and Thaba (Ke Chenchitse).
He also discovered artists like Jelly Babie and Phindy Maphendola.
His family was saddened that police havenât found or arrested his killers.
They said his legacy will always live on.
When Daily Sun contacted police, Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said no arrests have been made so far.
âThat case is still under investigation, and there’s no arrest as yet,â she said.
Media personality Ofentse Mawisa, an MC and TikTok sensation, said it feels like yesterday since news of Vusi Ma R5’s passing.
âHe’s greatly missed, and his teachings and unconditional love for everyone are missed. We’re trying to make him proud.â
Ofentse said Vusi played a huge role in the Bacardi industry.
âI can safely say his contribution towards the Bacardi culture has birthed many artists’ careers, including MCs and DJs. The Bacardi culture is in safe hands.”
She said the genre has unified people.
âWith a lot of hate between Bacardi artists and DJs, his way of uniting people would come in handy. May his beautiful soul rest in peace and continue watching over us.â
