Ukhozi Song of the Year runner-up receives new car!

UKHOZI FM Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka runner-up receives a generous gift.

Mjolisi’s hit song, My Dululu, featuring Mnqobi Yazo, was placed in the Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka top ten in December 2024.

The contest promised a brand-new VW Polo to the winner.

Ultimately, Mthandeni SK emerged victorious with his song Gucci, featuring MaWhoo, leaving Mjolisi in second place, empty-handed.

Ntuthuko Miya, a businessman and Good Samaritan from Bergville in the KZN Midlands, consoled Mjolisi.

He gifted the artist a new car, the prize he would have won if he had clinched the top spot.

On Wednesday, 8 January, Ntuthuko handed the brand-new VW Polo to Mjolisi at Barons Pietermaritzburg in the KZN Midlands.

Ntuthuko explained his motivation for the generous gesture.

He said he had a deep appreciation for Mjolisi’s song.

Ntuthuko anticipated that My Dululu would win the Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka contest and the accompanying car.

“After the year crossover, when Mjolisi’s song came in second, I listened to it again and believed it deserved to win. Unfortunately, it didn’t secure enough votes. I sought out anyone who could provide Mjolisi’s contact details to purchase the car for him. Ngizwe Mchunu assisted me in contacting Mjolisi,” Ntuthuko said.

Mjolisi, whose real name is Malibongwe Gwala (23), is from Umzumbe on the KZN south coast.

He expressed his gratitude.

“I won’t lie. I didn’t have a car and used to borrow one. Now, I can easily travel to performances. I want to thank Miya for recognising my talent, appreciating my work, and lending a helping hand,” he said.
