Transnet Port Terminals (TPT), a key division within South Africa’s logistics powerhouse – Transnet SOC Ltd – is currently seeking Port Workers (FTH) to support operational efficiency at the Richards Bay Multi-Purpose Terminal (MPT). The role is vital to the smooth functioning of terminal operations through physical labour support, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational readiness.

Tasks
As a Port Worker at TPT Richards Bay MPT, your daily responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning operational equipment including ship-to-shore crane cabins and windows
- Monitoring reefer (refrigerated container) operations
- Inspecting the condition of containers for damage or irregularities
- Opening and closing twist-locks on rail wagons
- Loading and off-loading cargo while following SOPs
- Hooking and unhooking cargo equipment
- Tarping and untarping cargo when required
- Placing and removing dunnage to secure cargo
- Cleaning operational workspaces, plant areas, rail trucks, offices, workshops, sheds, and ablution facilities
- Completing relevant documentation such as accident reports
- Identifying and handling cargo equipment and gear correctly

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, applicants must have:
- A minimum of Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification
This educational foundation ensures that candidates can follow procedures, complete documentation, and understand basic health and safety guidelines critical to terminal operations.
Experience
Candidates must also demonstrate:
- At least 1 year of terminal-related experience
This includes familiarity with port environments, cargo handling, and operating according to established protocols. Prior experience contributes to faster onboarding and operational readiness.
