Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) and Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services were called for assistance by residents Phase 6, Waterloo (KwaZulu-Natal Province) when they arrived at the scene they found several homes were engulfed in flames.

According to the Reaction Unit South Africa news report, earlier this morning, Sunday, 7 August 2022 at around 01:04 am Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) members were dispatched to Ithemba Lama Africa Road, Waterloo (KwaZulu-Natal Province) on arrival they found several community members attempting to extinguish fire with buckets of water.

Several homes situated in one property were engulfed in flames, the attempts made by residents of extinguish the flames were unsuccessful, the Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services arrived shortly thereafter and managed to successfully extinguish the fire.

The charred remains of a 38 year old man was discovered amongst the debris, circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire have not yet been established.
