Thembinkosi Mthembu Sparks Frenzy Among Female Fans
Well-known South African actor Thembinkosi Mthembu has announced that Adulting is returning for the third time.
Mthembu portrays the role of Bonga, a friend to three other boys: Luthando (BU Mthembu), Tsiki Tsiki (Nhlanhla Kunene), and Mpho (Thabiso Rammusi).
In this show, which airs on Showmax, Bonga is regarded as the pillar of friendship, offering constructive advice and solutions to problems.
The 30-year-old award-winning actor from Durban said he enjoys playing Bonga as the character takes him out of his comfort zone.
“I’m passionate about my acting career. Every character I’ve portrayed is different in such a way that it gives me different challenges. I love challenges because they test my strength and talent. I say this character of Bonga is challenging because it involves many things, including sex,” said Thembinkosi.
He said women in the streets would ask him to do to them what he does to other women on the show.
“That was a bit hectic. But as a gentleman, I’d handle the situation respectfully and humbly. I mean, I’d make women understand the difference between a character and a person who plays it. That’s what helped me, and no one would think that I come across as an arrogant actor,” said Thembinkosi.
This actor is known as a popular hunk and attractive to girls.
In 2023, he was awarded the Hunk of the Year by the Feather Awards.
He has also appeared in shows such as The River, Shaka Ilembe, The Gamechangers, and Outlaws.
It looks like his career is blossoming as he scores awards and nominations.
In this year’s South African Film & Television Awards, he was nominated in four categories, including two Best Actor nominations in a TV Drama for his roles in Adulting and Outlaws, Best Supporting Actor in a Telenovela for his role on The River, and Best Actor in a Telenovela for his lead role on Outlaws.
He said that he’s no different from Bonga.
“Bonga loves his family. He’s a family man. That’s how I am,” he said.
