Take Your Music Career to the Next Level at ‘An Honest Conversation with Black Coffee’

Grammy-winning DJ Black Coffee is hosting a “grow your music career” workshop in November.

Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, is a DJ, record producer and songwriter. His accolades include eight South African Music Awards, four DJ Awards, two Metro FM Awards and a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Dubbed “An Honest Conversation with Black Coffee”, the workshop will take place on November 15 in Johannesburg.

The event is billed as a “life-changing” opportunity to “connect with top industry professionals, record labels, DSPs [digital service providers] and royalty agencies” and “gain valuable tools, knowledge and exposure to elevate their career”.

The Black Coffee Foundation says applicants must submit a motivational letter on why they deserve a spot at the workshop. The deadline for applications is October 31.

Two weeks ago TshisaLIVE reported that DJ Christos is participating in an industry workshop in Eswatini with the German embassy in Pretoria. The workshop is taking place on Friday and Saturday in Manzini, Eswatini, and a second will be held on November 15 and 16 in Maseru, Lesotho.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, DJ Christos said this year’s events promise valuable insights into the music industry for the first time outside South Africa.

“Over 15 years in the business, Swazi Boy Entertainment has been involved in providing events management, promotions and entertainment in Eswatini. It is at the core of the dance music industry in the kingdom, having hosted the biggest events there,” he said.

“The company is also responsible for the Eswatini Creators Awards and the House Musiq Festival, which brings together the best performers in the country and beyond.

“The Dance Music Summit is a skills development agency run by myself and Lady Sakhe that aims to upskill and educate anyone interested in the dance music industry.”
