“Stay Strong, Penny”: Online Support Pours In for Ntuli’s Recovery
Hey everyone! Grab a cup of coffee and settle in because I have quite the story to share about our beloved Jozi FM presenter Penny Ntuli, who recently had quite the adventure (and not the fun kind) over the weekend in the Drakensberg region.
So, there’s Penny, all set to attend a funeral in Durban, cruising down from Johannesburg with her friend, the talented Uzalo actor Buyani Masikane. They hit the road on Friday, thinking nothing of it. But guess what? They ended up caught in a snowstorm that had the audacity to close the road between Montrose and Vereeniging on the N3 Toll Route. Yup, you read that right—snowstorm! Just when you think you know the weather in South Africa, right?
Now, imagine being stuck on a freezing road—not exactly the weekend getaway anyone dreams of. Penny and Buyani found themselves stranded from Friday into the late hours of Saturday night, and let me tell you, it’s not just the lack of movement that gets you; it’s the cold that seeps into your bones! Penny, being the thoughtful soul she is, quickly took to social media to raise the alarm about the horrid conditions for other road users. True to her character, she was looking out for everyone else while stuck in the middle of a snow scene that felt straight out of a movie.
Penny Ntuli’s companion, who had been stranded with her in their car on the N3 for two days due to heavy snowfall, has confirmed that Penny is in very poor health.

In a heartfelt update, Buyani later took to Facebook to share that Penny wasn’t just superhuman in spirit—she was seriously feeling under the weather. In a video, he explained how they noticed she was quiet and cold, especially after a stint of that always-wonderful car heating system. You know how you don’t think twice about turning the heater up until it’s a little too late? Yeah, that was them.
After catching on to how serious things were getting, they rushed Penny to a garage and treated her to a hot cup of coffee to help warm her up. Luckily, once they got her back to the cozy embrace of her mother’s care in Durban, she could start recuperating. Buyani reassured everyone that “Penny is still alive, it’s just that she caught a cold and is unwell.”
Fans and followers have been rallying behind her on social media, with messages of support pouring in from all corners. One Twitter user, @NeoBee25, expressed the anxious wait for updates, while another, @Magida_effects, reminded everyone of Penny’s strength, saying, “Our Penny is a strong woman. She will pull through. Wish you a speedy recovery MaSompisi.”
It’s moments like these that remind us of how interconnected we are, even in the face of adversity. Penny’s journey is a testament to the resilience we all have, and it’s so heartwarming to see how much love and support she has. From the chilly roads of the Drakensberg to the warm embraces of family, we’re sending all our best wishes her way for a speedy recovery.
Stay strong, Penny! We can’t wait to hear you back on Jozi FM, keeping us entertained and informed. Until next time, everyone—let’s all stay warm and safe out there!
