Solly Moholo Honored at Memorial Service in Pretoria

A memorial service for the late gospel star, Solly Moholo, was held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the State Theatre in Pretoria. The event gathered friends, family, and fans to pay tribute to the beloved musician following his passing on October 2, 2024.

Solly Moholo, whose real name was Solomon Molokoane, was a celebrated figure in the gospel music community. Before his death, he was actively promoting his latest album, *Wubani O zo Pepeza*, in Botswana. His sudden health complications resulted in him being rushed to the hospital, where he tragically passed away.

The gospel star’s funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024. The funeral will begin at 7 a.m. at Akasia Hall in Pretoria, where loved ones and fans will gather to bid him a final farewell.

Moholo’s family has shared that they plan to honor his legacy and ensure his contributions to gospel music live on for generations to come. “We are going to make sure his legacy lives forever,” a family spokesperson said in a previous statement.

In the days leading up to the memorial, there was controversy surrounding gospel musician Winnie Mashaba, who faced criticism after arriving at Solly Moholo’s family home in a private aircraft. Social media users accused her of showboating, questioning her claims of a close relationship with Moholo. Some even questioned why she did not assist with his medical expenses before his passing.

Mashaba, who referred to Solly Moholo as her “brother and mentor,” faced backlash, with critics suggesting her arrival was more about flaunting wealth than showing genuine support. The incident sparked a broader conversation on social media about the appropriateness of such displays during a time of mourning.

Despite the controversy, Solly Moholo’s family remains focused on celebrating his life and fulfilling his final wishes. His passing marks a significant loss in the gospel community, and his impact will be remembered by many who were touched by his music and his spiritual message.
