Soccer star back in court
SOCCER player appears in court.
Families of victims involved in an accident caused by soccer player, Shaune Mogaila were in the Tembisa Magistrates Court in Ekurhuleni on Tuesday, 4 February to hear proceedings.
The 29-year-old Sekhukhune United player made his second appearance in court, where he faces charges of culpable homicide and reckless and drunken driving.
He is out on R20 000 bail and the case was postponed to 19 May for postmortem and medical reports.
Mogaila was involved in an accident in October 2024 when the car he was driving flew from the opposite lane and landed in the victims’ lane.
Cops found bottles of booze and narcotics in his car.
Gomolemo Mavimbela (9) died in the accident, while her mum and a neighbour’s child sustained serious injuries and had to be hospitalised. They are both out of hospital and recovering from home.
The SunTeam visited the families at Leboeng section in Thembisa.
A relative of the 14-year-old boy who was injured in the accident said he has since returned to school, but he’s using crutches.
The mother of the girl didn’t want to say much, but said she was okay.
