“‘Skeem Saam’ Star Amanda Manku’s Dad Faces Another Court Appearance”

The father of actress Amanda Manku, who plays Dr Elizabeth Thobakgale-Seakamela on Skeem Saam appeared in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 4 October.

‘SKEEM SAAM’ STAR’S FATHER IN COURT
Tzaneen Voice reports that Amanda Manku’s father, William was seeking bail on Friday for the third time in the double murder case of his wife and mother-in-law.

William’s previous bail applications were denied twice, but he hoped to present new facts that could see him released on bail.

The court denied his requests, with the investigating officer revealing that William posed a danger to the community and the witnesses involved.

The matter was reportedly postponed to 17 October for the judgment of bail, while the date for his trial will reportedly be in January 2025 in the Polokwane High Court.

The 53-year-old former police officer has been in custody since 2021 for the alleged murders of his wife, Gladys Manku, and his mother-in-law, Letty Maphothoma.

AMANDA MANKU’S FATHER MURDERS MOM AND GRANDMOTHER
The sportscaster and actress, Amanda Manku lost both her mother and grandmother in May 2021.

“On January 10, 2024, three suspects appeared in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate court in connection with the murder of two women, aged, 70 and 45. The mother and daughter were shot and killed by unknown on 4 May 2021 at Makgophong Village, Zebediela,” said the actress in a statement.

Limpopo Chronicle reported in January that three suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of the mother and grandmother of Amanda Manku.

The suspects were David Khoza, 40, William Manku, 53, and Nonhlanhla Ngubo, 42.

The publication adds that the 70-year-old mother and her 45-year-old daughter were shot dead by unknown suspects while fetching water at a local tap. The elderly woman was also in the company of her son, who was injured during the shooting incident.

IOL reported in February that Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Col. Malesela Ledwaba stated, “Capt. Manku remains in custody, while charges against his alleged girlfriend, Sgt. Ngubo, have been withdrawn by the court.”
