Skeem Saam actress’ dad trial: Witness spills the beans!
THE trial of William Manku and David Khoza continues in the Polokwane High Court.
The 53-year-old former police official, father of Skeem Saam actress Amanda Manku, was arrested in January 2024 with his co-accused over the murder of his wife, Gladys Manku, and mother-in-law, Lettie Maphothoma.
A witness, the son of the late Lettie, was cross-examined. He explained that two men came looking for his mum the day she was killed. They claimed to fix wheelbarrows and wanted his mum, but since he wasn’t home, he asked them to leave their numbers.
The witness said the men wore all black and one covered half his face. He claimed that his mum didn’t know who the men were.
“My mum said she doesn’t know who the men were and asked what if they wanted to kill her,” he said.
He said he was shocked by the men’s response.
“They asked if my mum had a spiritual gift to sense what would happen,” he said.
He said the men also asked for water, and after he gave it to them, they left.
“I didn’t see which direction they took when they left,” he said.
On Monday, 10 February four witnesses were called to the stand, offering their testimonies as they were cross-examined about the tragic events of that day.
More witnesses, including Amanda Manku, are set to take the stand this week.
