Job Description
The Electrician Learnership Programme at Siza Water is designed to bridge the gap between academic qualifications and workplace experience. Learners will be placed within the company’s water infrastructure facilities and will engage in a range of hands-on tasks that are essential to the role of a qualified electrician.
Key duties include:
- Assisting with the installation of new electrical systems in treatment plants and pump stations
- Supporting planned and unplanned electrical maintenance activities
- Troubleshooting faults in motors, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), and instrumentation
- Participating in routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Learning to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical diagrams
- Completing assignments, logbooks, and workplace assessments in line with programme requirements
- Supporting sump cleaning activities and being available for standby duties as required
This programme is fully accredited and follows national learnership guidelines, ensuring that successful participants receive a recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering upon completion.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this learnership opportunity is a motivated and disciplined individual with a strong interest in electrical systems, particularly within industrial and water treatment environments.
Minimum entry requirements include:
- A completed Matric certificate (Mathematics and Physical Science are advantageous)
- An N2 – N3 Electrical Engineering Certificate
- Prior exposure to industrial environments is preferred but not compulsory
- A valid Code 10 Driver’s License
- South African citizenship and proof of residency
- Must be unemployed and willing to commit to the entire duration of the learnership
Applicants should be between the ages of 18 and 35 and possess a proactive attitude towards learning and development. A willingness to work in diverse and sometimes challenging conditions is essential.
Role Responsibility
As a learner in the Electrician Learnership Programme, you will:
- Work side-by-side with qualified electricians in real-time projects
- Gain exposure to the operation and maintenance of water infrastructure
