The story involving the mysterious injury of Mamelodi Sundowns striker has taken a new twist after reports emerged that he is actually not injured.

Shalulile has missed Sundowns’ last four matches, including the big MTN8 semi-final second-leg against Orlando Pirates.

According to a new report, the Namibian has stopped training, as he is forcing a move away from the club in the January transfer window.

“It is the same old story isn’t it? The club have said to him he cannot move in the next transfer window because they need him, especially for their Caf (Champions League) campaign,” a source was quoted as saying by the Citizen.

“But he feels he wants to make the move now. I also heard that he fought with one of the coaches after the (MTN8) first leg against Orlando Pirates.

“It was about the team not getting any shots on target and there was a suggestion that it is because his mind is not there due to the fact that he wants to leave.”

In my opinion, if reports are true, Shalulile actually made life difficult for himself by signing a long-term deal after his contract was renewed at the end of last season.

Sundowns announced after the end of the season that Shalulile signed a new five-year deal, to extend his stay at the club for the long term.

If Shalulile had serious ambitions of going overseas, why sign a long-term contract?

And also, why does he not make it clear they include a clause in his contract that states he will be allowed to leave if a certain team meets certain financial requirements, in terms of a transfer fee?

These rumours have been given credence, in my opinion, by the restructuring of the technical team announced by the club on Monday.

There seem to be a lot going on behind the scenes, as Manqoba Mngqithi was demoted to being the senior coach and Rhulani Mokwena appointed as head coach.

Steve Komphela has been given the role of a first team coach, according to a statement released by the club.
