About SANParks x250 Tourism Monitors Programme 2025
SANParks x250 Tourism Monitors Programme 2025 The Department of Tourism, in collaboration with South African National Parks (SANParks), is pleased to announce the recruitment of 250 candidates for the SANParks Tourism Monitors Programme 2025. This initiative is part of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and aims to enhance tourism safety and visitor experience in South Africa’s most renowned national parks.
The SANParks x250 Tourism Monitors Programme 2025 offers a 7-month opportunity combining theoretical training and hands-on practical experience. The program will be implemented at selected national parks, and successful applicants will be deployed to sites closest to their residential areas. Applicants living with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Participants will be contracted directly under SANParks by the Department of Tourism and will receive a monthly stipend of R8000, calculated on a daily rate of R200.
Role Responsibility – SANParks x250 Tourism Monitors Programme 2025
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Assisting with visitor safety and support at national parks
- Monitoring and reporting any suspicious activities within park premises
- Providing basic tourism information to guests
- Supporting the tourism operations through fieldwork
- Promoting positive visitor experiences
- Participating in training sessions and practical field duties
- Ensuring professional conduct while representing SANParks
Minimum Requirements:

- Must be a South African citizen (Certified copy of ID required)
- Aged between 18 and 35 years
- Must be unemployed
- Possess a Grade 12/Matric certificate or an equivalent qualification
- Literate and fluent in English
- Reside within a 40km – 100km radius of the park they apply for (Proof of residence required)
- Tertiary education in Tourism or Environmental Studies is an added advantage
- Must have a passion for tourism and community development
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays
- Own reliable transport to and from the workplace
- Be physically fit and prepared to undergo physical fitness tests
- Only one learner per household will be considered
- No affidavits will be accepted as proof of residence

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and required to undergo:
- Physical fitness assessment (2.4km run, 25 pushups, 25 sit-ups)
- Interview process
- Medical examination and criminal background check
