Sangoma: ‘There’s a dark cloud over Gogo Maweni!’
GOGO Maweni faces troubling predictions amid ongoing legal battle.
Traditional healer warns sangoma Gogo Maweni’s customers as her legal troubles continue. Maweni faces charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm from an incident in 2019.
She’s expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate Court in Soweto on Tuesday, 11 February, after being granted R5 000 bail and having her case postponed for further investigation.
According to sangoma Solly Mathebula, also known as Gogo Mahlasela, there’s a dark cloud over Maweni due to her time in prison. He expressed concern about her current ability to offer spiritual guidance and cautioned that consulting with her now could bring misfortune.
“Jail is a dark space. People get sentenced there. She must go to a river and perform a cleansing. She needs an inyanga to cleanse her,” said Gogo Mahlasela.
He said that if he were in Maweni’s position, he’d stop offering services until the legal proceedings end, allowing her ancestors to fight for her during this turbulent time.
Gogo Mahlasela suggested Maweni’s arrest may indicate that her ancestors have allegedly turned their backs on her.
“If she doesn’t get cleansed, the worst could happen,” he said.
His bone readings suggest this is just the beginning of Maweni’s problems.
“More is coming. More arrests, especially with people close to her, and more cases linking her to many things,” he predicted.
Gogo Mahlasela emphasised the need to question where Maweni’s ancestors are at this moment of crisis.
“If Maweni was powerful, her amadlozi wouldn’t have let her end up in jail. They would have protected her. She was warned by many people and didn’t listen. Her ancestors have now turned their backs on her,” he said.
