SA Fans Upset as Janet Jackson Skips South Africa on World Tour

Despite cancelling her DStv Delicious Festival performance over ‘family commitments’, Janet Jackson continued her world tour just days later.

Many South African fans have been left fuming after Janet Jackson continued her world tour, despite cancelling her appearance at the DStv Delicious Festival over the weekend.

The 56-year-old singer dropped out of the SA food and music event at the eleventh hour after her brother Tito Jackson’s recent passing.

According to reports, Tito has yet to be buried.

Meanwhile, Jason Derulo and Busta Rhymes replaced the singer as a headline act on Saturday, 21 September.

JANET JACKSON CONTINUES WORLD TOUR

A day after she cancelled her performance at the DStv Delicious Festival in Johannesburg – reportedly over a family tragedy –  a fan account revealed that Janet Jackson was abroad and ready to kick off her world tour.

The account tweeted: “Janet Jackson is already in France for her upcoming TOGETHER AGAIN TOUR in Europe! She had dinner with friends and crew, including fashion stylist Christian Siriano”.

According to a statement released by DStv Delicious Festival late last week, Janet Jackson withdrew from her performance “due to pressing family commitments following the recent passing of her brother, Tito Jackson.”

The statement added that the singer would plan a return to South Africa for a future date.

Meanwhile, Janet is set to perform in the UK, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands in the coming days as part of her world tour.

SOUTH AFRICAN FANS ARE NOT IMPRESSED

Naturally, many South Africans were upset at the seeming snub following news Janet Jackson had resumed all her performances.

Here’s what a few X users had to say:

@mmotjopye: “I thought she was mourning and spending time with family. Does it mean she was not interested in coming to SA for the DSTV Delicious?”

@BongiweGambu: “My sister, you could’ve just said you don’t want to come to perform in South Africa for the @DeliciousFestSA. Lying to us wasn’t necessary.”

@Thabo05852519: “Why are you in France? Shouldn’t you be cancelling everywhere, sis?”

@Inenekazi1: “Janet Jackson just didn’t want to come to South Africa.”

@Elvishonz: “She doesn’t know SA people never forget. She must forget about coming to SA“.
