Rising Star Tumi Musiq Shines in Amapiano Scene
TUMI Musiq joins the big dogs.
Sony Music Entertainment Africa has officially welcomed amapiano DJ and producer Tumi Musiq to its roster, marking a major milestone in his career.
Alongside this exciting signing, the producer from Katlehong, Ekurhuleni has released his latest single titled Thixo Bawo, featuring Mia, George Lesley, and Jay Sax.
Since launching his career in 2016, Tumi Musiq, whose real name is Boitumelo Tshabalala (24), has been dedicated to refining his craft.
His debut single, Let It Rain, featuring Mick Man and Artwork Sounds, introduced him as a formidable force in the industry. Now, backed by Sony Music Africa, he’s set to reach even greater heights.
“Joining Sony Music is a dream come true. I feel incredibly blessed to be part of such a prestigious institution,” said Tumi Musiq.

Known for blending jazz and R&B influences with amapiano’s signature rhythms, his music delivers a mature, soulful listening experience.
More than just a song, Thixo Bawo is a heartfelt expression of transformation and gratitude.
“The track is a prayer, acknowledging the power of music to change lives. Collaborating with Mia on vocals was effortless, thanks to their aligned creative energy. Mia is a free spirit in the studio. She’s easy to work with, and our musical styles naturally connect,” he said.
For Mia, this single marks a milestone as her first Amapiano composition.
“Thixo Bawo is an expression of my gratitude for my musical gift,” she shares, making this collaboration deeply personal.
Tumi Musiq hopes his journey will inspire fellow artists to explore different sounds and embrace growth.
“Never limit yourself. Experiment with different styles and always give thanks for your blessings never take them for granted,” he advised.
His upward trajectory continued in 2024 when he was featured on Russell Zuma’s Love Season project, further solidifying his impact in the industry.
