Women in South Africa lose their lives daily, the number of women being killed is relatively high and its becoming scary. Being a female is their biggest crime.

The country is slowly becoming a very unsafe place for women, the high number of women killed in the past months is very worrying, it is a huge concern because the rate of femicide in the country is already too high, higher than the global average and it does not look like something that will stop anytime soon.

This year alone a lot of women have lost their lives in the hands of a men, men they know and trust. The same men that are supposed to be the ones who protect them.

Sadly Gender Based Violence has no age, everyone is affected. Mostly women are victims and in most cases they lose their lives.

Social media trends includes a woman’s name every week. A woman who was killed.

The latest victim is a young 16 year-old girl named Thandiswa Molefe from Mthatha, Eastern Cape.

Thandiswa was found near a waterfall, her body was found wrapped in a blanket tied with an electric cable and she had burn marks on her head. Clearly she was murdered.

She was way too young to die, let alone be murdered. Such cruelty.
