RIP: Condolences Pour In For Another Top Sports Presenter

The tragic death of a renowned journalist has shocked the African football community. These death are now one too many; leaving those left behind traumatized; and asking themselves, who’s next ?

Sports Presenter Cudjie Amankwaa died on Friday night, according to Dominic Chimhavi of the South African Football Association’s communications department.

Amankwaa was declared dead by the medics upon his arrival at an undisclosed hospital, according to Chimhavi. On SABC Sport for Television and Radio, Amankwa was known for his hard-hitting football analysis.

Amankwaa worked for the SABC as an analyst, researcher, and scriptwriter before his untimely demise. Christoph Bongo and Andile Ncube, both of SABC Sport, were among those who paid respect to the dead football writer.

The cause of his death is unknown, however according to Kickoff.com’s Lorenz Köhler, he was transported to the hospital “after his wife was unable to stir him up.”

Many of his peers referred to him as the “big fish” among them because of his extensive knowledge of African football.
