Police Launch Manhunt After Triple Murder in Lusikisiki

Tragic Shooting Claims Lives of Mother and Daughters
LUSIKISIKI – A horrific mass shooting in Sitshayelo village, Lusikisiki, has left a family shattered after a mother and her two daughters were brutally gunned down in their home on Thursday night.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who was reportedly wearing a balaclava during the attack. The victims, identified as Nolonwabo Mgojeni, 69, and her daughters Zandile Mgojeni, 44, and Anelisa Mgojeni, 33, were fatally shot in what authorities have described as a senseless act of violence.

Gunman Forces Entry into the Home
Police spokesperson Capt. Welile Matyolo confirmed that the attack occurred around 10 p.m. The gunman allegedly forced a local man to knock on the door, gaining access to the house.

β€œIt is alleged that the suspect, who was masked, stormed into the home and demanded to know the whereabouts of the 33-year-old victim, Anelisa Mgojeni, who was in the bedroom at the time,” Matyolo stated.

As the elderly mother and her older daughter tried to intervene, they were shot on the spot. The gunman then proceeded to the bedroom, where he shot Anelisa multiple times before fleeing the scene.

Devastated Family and Community Outrage
The tragic killings have left the family and community in deep shock. A relative, who asked to remain anonymous due to safety concerns, expressed grief over the brutal attack.

β€œThis is a disaster for our family. Three of our loved ones were killed in cold blood. They were all women, defenceless and harmless. The fact that this happened in front of children is unbearable,” the family member said.

Reports suggest that the attack may have been linked to a financial dispute, with the gunman allegedly demanding money before opening fire. However, police have not confirmed a motive.

Police Investigation and Call for Information
Authorities have vowed to bring the perpetrator to justice. OR Tambo district police commissioner Maj-Gen Norman Modishana strongly condemned the killings, stating, β€œWe will not rest until the heartless individual responsible for this senseless murder is caught and held accountable.”

The police have urged anyone with information to come forward. Those with relevant details can contact Lusikisiki detectives at the following numbers:

Col Kufa: 082-302-5118 / 083-427-9656
Lt Sitsha: 082-442-2714 / 039-253-1350
Crime Stop: 086-001-0111
Callers may remain anonymous.

Rising Violence in Lusikisiki
This tragedy is part of a disturbing trend of violent crimes in Lusikisiki. Recently, a business executive was fatally shot in her home, and another man was stabbed to death, with his girlfriend later killed by a mob.

The ongoing violence has raised concerns among local leaders. Ingquza Hill Mayor Nonkosi Pepping and gender-based violence activist Khwalo Matandabuzo condemned the murders and urged authorities to act swiftly.

β€œThe killing of women in our communities is alarming. We need urgent action from the police to arrest these perpetrators before more lives are lost,” Matandabuzo said.

As the community mourns the loss of three innocent women, pressure is mounting on law enforcement to ensure justice is served and prevent further bloodshed.
