Pirates star Mofokeng’s song drama!
DRAMA follows Orlando Pirates star player Relebohile Mofokeng.
The 20-year-old Mofokeng, nicknamed iPresident yama 2k forward, is the name on everybody’s lips.
So much so that a song has been made about him. However, his dad is not happy about the song.
The song, titled Mofokeng by Shimi-Boi featuring Mgiftoz and DK, has been taking over different social media platforms.
The amapiano trio has also performed it on TV.
But according to sources, Mofokeng’s dad and manager, Sechaba Mofokeng, doesn’t want to endorse the song.
“They reached out to him to ask for permission to work with them, but they didn’t show interest. They’ve been reaching out to them for the past months, but there’s no response from Sechaba. The guys want to film a music video and take further steps with the song because it’s already big and has the potential to become even bigger. But they aren’t showing interest,” a source said.
Another source shared a voice note of Mofokeng’s dad expressing that he didn’t want the song to be released.
“I see you’ve already decided for yourselves that you’d continue with the song even though we didn’t agree. I’ve seen the song on social media as well, and it shows that you’re continuing. I don’t know what to do anymore,” he said in the recording.
Shimi-Boy told Daily Sun that they’re working on the issue.
“I think it’s a misunderstanding and it’s not that deep. On our side, we’re working on the issue. We’re just waiting for them to get back to us, but they haven’t done that. We’ve been trying to communicate in terms of going forward with the song.
“But they are delaying other things that we want to pursue for the song because we’re waiting for their approval. We wanted to get consent from them and maybe have some sort of a partnership,” he said.
When asked if Sechaba had given them a reason for not endorsing the song, he said no.
“That’s the thing. They haven’t explained what’s stopping them. They say they’re busy with paperwork on their side. But I don’t have much information. They’re communicating with my team,” he said.
Sechaba denied having a problem with the song.
“There’s no issue. This is the first time I’ve heard about me having an issue. The guys who made the song even have a photo with Relebohile,” he said.
When asked if he knew they needed his go-ahead for the song to take further steps, he said: “We’ve already spoken about that.”
