“Tuesday morning was one of those moments that filled my heart to the brim. Seeing all three of my kids ready to tackle a new school year was overwhelming in the best way,” Nonku said.
“Wakhe, now in grade 7, kept saying he was both nervous and excited – a mix of emotions that made me smile because I could see how much he was growing into his own.
“Nothile, my beautiful young woman in matric, was filled with excitement and determination, ready to make this year her best yet. And then there’s my baby, Phendulile, who’s in his second year of big school. I love watching him confidently head off with his little bag, full of energy and curiosity,” she said.
She said she had been used to a noisy and busy house but appreciated the quiet once they all went to school.
“Returning to a quiet house felt unfamiliar, but it gave me a chance to pause and reflect. As an entrepreneurial mum, I value the time when my kids are in school, knowing they’re in a safe and nurturing environment that allows me to focus on my work and build a future for our family.
“It’s these moments – both the big milestones and the everyday little joys – that I hold close.”
Kwesta’s youngest daughter Kenya started big school. Her mum, Yolanda Vilakazi shared a video and pictures of her going to school with her big sister, Khai.
YouTuber Yolenda Jawe, popularly known as Yolz, also shared a picture of her son, who has started grade 1.
