BULLETS fly and security guard injured in violent ATM bombing at Jubilee Mall.
A security officer was shot and injured during a ATM bombing at Jubilee Mall in Hammanskraal, Tshwane, in the early hours of Sunday, 16 March.
A gang of roughly 30 men allegedly bombed five ATMs at the mall, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects also broke into a shop and bombed the drop safe.
Gauteng police reported that as the suspects were leaving the mall, they encountered police and opened fire, resulting in a shootout between cops, private security officers, and the suspects.
Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, Gauteng police spokesman said:”The security officer was shot and wounded during the exchange of gunfire and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby medical facility. No arrests have been made, and the police are still searching for the suspects.

Masondo said the mall has been temporarily closed while the police investigate the incident.
“The suspects are facing charges of attempted murder, possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, stolen property, unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and contravention of the Immigration Act. No arrests have been made, police are searching for the suspects,” he said.
Jubilee Mall management released a statement and said: “The safety and well-being of our customers, tenants, and employees are our top priority. We are working closely with law enforcement to investigate the incident.”
The police have opened a case of attempted murder and ATM bombing for investigation.
