“A Year Later: The Search for Joslin Continues”

Today marks one year since little Joslin vanished from Saldanha, West Coast, Cape Town, on 19 February 2024. It has been a year filled with relentless searching, unwavering hope, desperate pleas, and countless prayers—all met with heartbreaking silence.

Despite exhaustive investigations and extensive search efforts, Joslin’s whereabouts remain unknown. In March 2024, authorities arrested her mother, Kelly Smith, along with Jacquen Appollis and Steveno van Rhyn, charging them with kidnapping and human trafficking. The case has since been transferred to the Western Cape High Court, where a pre-trial conference is scheduled for 28 February 2025.

The community, along with concerned citizens across South Africa, refuses to forget Joslin. Her disappearance has sparked nationwide conversations about child safety and the urgent need for stronger protections against trafficking and abduction.

Joslin, wherever you are, your memory remains alive in the hearts of those who continue to search for answers. We will not stop fighting for you or for any other missing child in South Africa.

“SPCA Pledges R20,000 Reward Following Cruel Baboon Killing in Mpumalanga”

Shocking Incident at Delmas Secondary School
The National Council of Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) has announced a R20,000 reward for information that leads to the successful conviction of those responsible for the brutal killing of a male Chacma baboon, known as “Raygun.”

A disturbing video circulating on social media shows Raygun being chased, beaten, and set on fire at a secondary school in Delmas, Mpumalanga. His body was later mutilated, with his hands, feet, head, and heart removed.

    NSPCA Calls for Justice
The NSPCA issued a statement condemning the act and urging anyone with information to come forward. They also appealed to individuals who recorded the horrific incident to assist in identifying the culprits.

Despite the existence of video footage, the school’s management has refused to disclose the names of those involved.

    Connection to Superstition and Witchcraft
According to the NSPCA, the attack is believed to be rooted in superstitions surrounding baboons and witchcraft. Reports indicate that earlier that morning, ten students fainted, which fueled rumors that Raygun had been sent to cast a spell.

“The school principal, who admitted to moving her car during the chaos and then running back inside the school building, has refused to name the three students seen chasing Raygun on the school’s roof,” the NSPCA stated.

The organization also revealed that members of the local community had warned the school not to cooperate with authorities investigating Raygun’s death. This resistance has made it difficult for the NSPCA to proceed with their investigation.

    NSPCA Condemns Extreme Cruelty
Chief Inspector Douglas Wolhuter, head of the NSPCA’s Wildlife Protection Unit, expressed horror at the level of cruelty inflicted on Raygun.

“Raygun was simply searching for freedom and a new territory, which is instinctive behavior for baboons. No animal should ever suffer such unimaginable pain and agony,” he said.

    Appeal for Information
The NSPCA is urging anyone with details about the incident to contact them via email at [email protected] or call 011 907 3590. All tip-offs will be kept anonymous.

This tragic case highlights the urgent need for stronger animal protection laws and greater awareness about wildlife conservation. The NSPCA remains committed to ensuring that those responsible for this inhumane act are held accountable.

Ashley Ogle Voted Out by Housemates

As competition heats up in the Big Brother Mzansi house, another contestant has been eliminated. Ashley Ogle, known for her controversial statements and actions, was voted out by fellow housemates, including her rival, Mshini.

Her eviction did not sit well with many of her fans, who were convinced that she brought excitement to the show. However, others felt that her behavior, particularly her controversial opinions and alleged bullying, made her removal necessary.

    Mixed Reactions from Viewers

The news of Ashley’s eviction caused a stir on social media, with fans expressing their thoughts. Some were disappointed, claiming that her exit marked the end of their interest in the show:

@yo_girl_nokue: “Today was my last day watching Big Brother.”
@mandisi.tshingana: “What rubbish is this? Is this a joke? Because it’s not funny!”

Pretoria Tornado Leaves Trail of Destruction, Sparks Online Jokes

A powerful tornado struck Montana in Pretoria North, causing significant damage to buildings, vehicles, and trees. Residents of a local complex had to be evacuated after the storm ripped through the area on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. While no injuries were reported, the unusual weather event triggered a flurry of online reactions, including jokes blaming the USA and AfriForum for the disaster.

    Tornado Causes Widespread Damage
The City of Tshwane’s Emergency Services Department confirmed that their Emergency Communication Centre (ECC) received multiple reports of the tornado on Tuesday evening. Firefighters and Disaster Risk Management officials rushed to the scene, where they discovered extensive damage.

“The storm uprooted trees and tore off corrugated iron roof sheets from buildings, carports, and other structures along Sefako Makgatho Drive,” the Emergency Services Department stated.

One of the hardest-hit areas was a residential complex on Veda Street, where heavy winds stripped external geysers and roofing from buildings. Many upper-floor apartments suffered water damage due to the destruction. Officials had to evacuate some residents from the worst-affected buildings, though fortunately, no one was harmed.

    Recurring Tornadoes in Gauteng
This is not the first tornado to hit Gauteng in recent months. On November 27, 2024, a similar storm struck the West Rand, destroying homes and businesses. Just two weeks before that, on November 13, tornado sightings were reported in Harrismith, KwaZulu-Natal.

Emergency services remain on high alert in Pretoria North, closely monitoring the aftermath of the storm and assessing damages.

    Social Media Reactions
The Pretoria tornado quickly became a trending topic on social media, with users sharing footage and speculating about its origins. Some people took a lighthearted approach, jokingly attributing the tornado to political figures and organizations.

One user, @Xindichane, quipped, “This is what happens when you challenge Donald Trump.”
Another, @NaphtallyMO, joked, “I blame AfriForum. Now we’ve got American demons in Tshwane.”
@_bsspotter1 humorously suggested, “The ANC will tell you that Trump and Musk launched an attack.”

Others, however, speculated that the tornado was the result of weather manipulation. @uNyamazane stated, “This looks artificial. We need more live accounts to verify if this is a natural tornado.”

    Safety Warnings for Residents
Weather expert Juandre Vorster, also known as “The Weather Hooligan,” advised the public to stay cautious. He emphasized that tornadoes are extremely dangerous and warned people against approaching them for videos or photos.

His cautionary advice follows a recent viral video showing a tornado forming in Butterworth, Eastern Cape, on January 7, 2025.

As South Africans deal with the aftermath of yet another destructive tornado, emergency services urge the public to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines during extreme weather conditions.

    Manhunt for Zanzou nighclub bouncers!

A MANHUNT has been initiated by police for at least eight foreign nationals following a troubling incident at Zanzou nightclub in Hatfield, Tshwane.

The incident has stunned the public, involving allegations that bouncers and the club manager forced five men into a storeroom, where they suffered violent abuse.

The victims were reportedly ordered to insert alcohol bottles into their private parts and were coerced into performing sexual acts on themselves.

National police spokeswoman Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Investigations (FCS) unit is handling the investigation into this dreadful incident.

She said the charges being investigated include compelled rape, assault, crimen injuria, intimidation, and kidnapping. In a bid to gather more information, police are seeking a man known as “Pablo” on social media, who claims to be a former bouncer at Zanzou.

Pablo has made several allegations online, and police believe his testimony could be vital to solving the case.

The case has drawn further attention following the release of upsetting videos by a former nightclub bouncer.

These videos, circulated on social media, detail the violent treatment of the victims and suggest that people have been killed at the club.

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development strongly condemned the acts of violence and dehumanisation at Zanzou nightclub.

“These heinous acts violate the fundamental human rights in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, which upholds values of human dignity, equality, and the rule of law,” said Department of Justice and Constitutional Development spokeswoman Kgalalelo Masibi.

Meanwhile, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng has called for the immediate arrest of Zanzou Club’s owner and the club’s closure.

The EFF stated such behaviour is unacceptable in a society valuing human dignity and justice, rejecting the nightclub’s claim that the incident was linked to phone theft.

The police have vowed to pursue justice for the victims and ensure that everyone involved in this shocking incident is held accountable.

  • Mama Joy: I’m not going back to Pirates!

Mama Joy: I’m not going back to Pirates!

Mama Joy: I’m not going back to Pirates!

MAMA Joy is not going anywhere!

Renowned superfan Mama Joy has made it clear that she has no intention of supporting Orlando Pirates again even after news broke that her current team, Royal AM, is facing financial troubles.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Mama Joy (53), whose real name is Joy Chauke, said she doesn’t regret her decision to leave the Buccaneers.

She parted ways with the club to support the female-led Royal AM, which is owned by businesswoman and reality TV star, Shauwn “Mam’Mkhize” Mkhize.

However, with reports surfacing that Royal AM could be sold by SARS to settle outstanding tax debts, questions have arisen about Mama Joy’s next move.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Royal AM, Mama Joy is standing her ground.

“People did not understand my decision when I left Orlando Pirates, but I have no regrets. It wasn’t an easy choice, but I did it to support a woman in football. I will not go back. When I tried to enter the stadium to support my team with a ticket, they stopped me at the entrance,” she said.

She also shared that she recently found joy in watching Mamelodi Sundowns thrash Pirates 4-1, further proving that her ties with her former club are truly severed.

“They made me feel like I was nothing, as if they could stop me from attending matches whenever they wanted. That hurt me deeply. That’s why I supported Sundowns when they won 4-1. I was happy, but that does not mean I’m a Sundowns or Kaizer Chiefs fan,” she said.

On the potential sale of Royal AM, Mama Joy admitted she’s devastated.

“This is a tough time. People have been asking where I will go next. I am not the owner of Royal AM, but I supported them because they were led by a woman. If the club ceases to exist, I will be heartbroken.

“I was like family to them. The chairman ensured I was part of the team’s charity initiatives and now I feel lost. If Royal AM is gone, then who is Mama Joy without Thwihli Thwahla?” she said.

Despite her passion for football, Mama Joy said she has no plans to support another club but Mzansi’s sports teams.

“For now, I will focus on supporting netball, cricket, Banyana Banyana, the Springboks and Bafana Bafana. I don’t see myself backing another football team. Royal AM was my family, and I want to respect that bond. Right now, I’m heartbroken,” she said.

Mam’Mkhize’s Royal AM to be sold!

SHAUWN “Mam’Mkhize” Mkhize’s soccer club, Royal AM, is set to be sold to settle its debts with the taxman.

This follows the popular businesswoman and TV reality star’s current difficulties with the South African Revenue Service (Sars).

Her club, also known as Thwihli Thwahla and based in Pietermaritzburg, KZN, competes in the Betway Premiership.

It was one of the assets attached by Sars to recover the R40 million debt owed.

Mam’Mkhize’s problems started in 2024 after the KZN Local Division of the High Court granted a preservation order and a search-and-seizure warrant in the case involving the Commissioner of Sars versus Mam’Mkhize and others.

After issues began, her club was placed under curatorship.

A recent court ruling has mandated that the club be sold to pay Sars.

The club was unable to participate in its soccer matches, which led to the PSL suspending all its matches until further notice.

ALSO READ: Mum: My enemies killed my daughter

It’s unclear whether the buyer will be from KZN, allowing the team to remain in the province, or from another province.

Sars spokesman Siphithi Sibeko informed Daily Sun the curator is currently responsible for all actions concerning the club.

Sars will receive its money once the team is sold.

When asked to provide the curator’s contact details, Sibeko said he didn’t have them.

“When the curator gets appointed by the court, they’ll get a mandate to sell something from someone owing and pay someone who is owed.

“Sars only acts on the basis of what he gets given. The curator is independent, so Sars won’t be one selling the club. It’s the curator that does what he has to do empowered by the law. He knows, as the curator, about what to do to pay creditors,” he said.

    Mam’Mkhize was unavailable for comment.

The PSL has not yet commented on its future action following the Royal AM FC controversy.
