Department of Correctional Services X36 Security Offices 2025

Department of Correctional Services X36 Security Offices 2025

Department of Correctional Services X36 Security Offices 2025 The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) in South Africa plays a pivotal role in rehabilitation, security, and reintegration of offenders. One of its lesser-known yet highly critical sectors is Agricultural Operations, where farming and production activities support inmate rehabilitation, food self-sufficiency, and skills development. Within this space, Security Officer vacancies in Agriculture present a unique and impactful opportunity for individuals seeking meaningful employment within government service.

A Dual Role: Security and Agricultural Oversight

Security Officers in the agricultural division of the DCS are tasked with a dual responsibility: ensuring the safety and security of correctional farms and production units, and overseeing the orderly participation of inmates in agricultural activities. These officers work on prison farms where offenders are engaged in crop production, livestock management, and other agri-related functions.

Unlike standard correctional security roles, agricultural security officers operate in more open environments — fields, barns, storage facilities, and production centers — where vigilance, discipline, and quick response are vital. The role also demands a firm understanding of both security protocols and the layout of agricultural operations.
