    Job Description

    Successful applicants will be enrolled in a structured 18-month Metro Police Traineeship Programme hosted by the JMPD Training Academy. The training will prepare them for a career in metropolitan policing.

    Upon successful completion of the programme, candidates will be considered for permanent appointment as Qualified Metropolitan Police Officers under the City of Johannesburg jurisdiction. Post-training, officers will be deployed to various precincts and operational units throughout Johannesburg.

    Trainees must comply with the JMPD Academy rules, RTMC policies, and the City’s conditions for trainee development. A monthly stipend will be paid throughout the training duration, and successful completion may lead to permanent law enforcement positions.

    JMPD Training 2025 Intake

    Requirements:

    • Be a South African citizen.
    • Be in possession of a valid Senior Certificate (Grade 12 /equivalent NQF Level 4).
    • Be domicile within the jurisdiction of the Johannesburg Metropolitan area (Applicants must provide original proof of residence).
    • Have no criminal conviction/record.
    • Be prepared to allow biometric data and other information to be taken for purposes of checking for a criminal record.
    • Have a Driver’s License (No Learner’s license), minimum Code B.
    • Between the ages of 18 – 35 years.
    • Be physically and mentally fit. (A Comprehensive Medical Certificate must be submitted together with the application).
