Nicki Minaj, the undisputed queen of rap, has thrown her fans a curveball. She surprised everyone by cancelling the anticipated deluxe edition of her latest album, Pink Friday 2. But don’t despair, Barbz! Instead, she’s announced something even better: an entirely new album, Pink Friday 3, according to People.

Minaj took to social media to share the unexpected news. The 41-year-old rapper addressed her legion of loyal fans on X (formerly Twitter) and explained why she decided to scrap the deluxe edition. “Instead of doing a DELUXE to Pink Friday 2, I’ve decided to do a brand new album,” she revealed. The rapper promised that some of the songs initially intended for the deluxe version will still find a place in her new project.

“I’ll still incorporate new songs like #Mamita & [The ‘anxiety’ song] for the remainder of the tour though,” she reassured her followers.  Minaj says the new music she’s been working on is too good to relegate to a deluxe edition, according to Vibe. She emphatically stated, “The new music is just too good to throw away on a deluxe album.

“Last night, the songs I recorded were just too iconic. Her fans, affectionately known as the Barbz, are no strangers to Minaj’s high standards. She’s always been one to deliver the best, and this time is no different.  She promised that Pink Friday 3 will be worth the wait. I’ll still give you something leading up to the announcement, so no worries,” she said, keeping the anticipation alive. Minaj also shared a more personal reason behind her decision.

Pink Friday 2 means so much to me. As my 1st album as #PapaBear mama, it’s just very special to me for so many reasons you guys aren’t aware of.” The rapper, who became a mother in 2020, has often spoken about how her son, affectionately nicknamed Papa Bear, has changed her life.

She added, “Every song on Pink Friday 2 was placed in a specific order. It highlights how deeply she cares about the artistic integrity of her work. In true Nicki style, she left fans with a promise that the new album would not disappoint. This era has just been so successful, rewarding, satisfying, etc. After much thought, I want to be certain that I am intentional about every decision being made around both PF2 and PF3.

Nicki Minaj continues to dominate the global music scene, according to Rolling Stone. She’s not just about making hits; she’s about creating art. And with the promise of Pink Friday 3 on the horizon, it’s clear that the queen of rap isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
