Naledi celebrates Chris Brown’s Grammy win!
MZANSI musician Naledi Aphiwe is celebrating a remarkable achievement.
Her voice was sampled on a Chris Brown album, which went on to clinch a Grammy award.
Naledi’s voice features on Chris Brown’s track Shooter from his 2023 album, 11:11.
On Sunday, 2 February, the US star won the Best R&B Album award at the Grammy Awards held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, USA.
Naledi gained wider recognition in 2023 when Chris Brown sampled her vocals while she was still in grade 11 at Khethokuhle High School in Inanda, north of Durban, KZN.
This recognition propelled her to become a top musician while she completed her matric at the same school in 2024, and she finally met Chris Brown during his performance at FNB Stadium in December 2024.
The 18-year-old singer, whose real name is Naledi Aphiwe Myongwane, shares her excitement with Daily Sun about Chris Brown’s Grammy win.
“Excited to wake up to the news that Chris Brown won. I’m honoured to have been part of the 11:11 project,” she said.
Having her voice sampled by the global star has opened many doors for Naledi.
“He paved the way for me to be recognised, and now my talent is acknowledged,” she said.
The Ngiyabonga hitmaker passed her matric in 2024 with a bachelor’s pass and is expected to further her studies at university in 2025.
While she plans to continue with her education, she prefers not to disclose specifics for her safety.
Naledi recently released a single love song titled Romeo and Juliet alongside Mawelele. She said she plans to release more good music and an EP in 2025.
