MULTI award-winning musician Naima Kay is not only growing musically, but also in organising events.
The 33-year-old musician, whose real name is Lungile Khumalo from Port Shepstone in southern KZN, is gearing up to host her first event named the Naima Kay Homecoming All White Picnic.
The first picnic will be held at St Michaelâs Beach in her hometown on Saturday, 26 April.
This is not Naima Kay’s first event. She hosted another event called Sekwanele Tour at The Playhouse in Durban in 2022.
She’s known for hit songs such as Lelilanga and Shayizandla. She’s also scooped several awards, including the South African Music Awards’ Best Newcomer in 2014 and Best Female Album during Metro FM Music award in 2015.

âI can do my own events with the help of my recording company, Touch Africa. The recording company has made me grow and has taken me to another level,” she said.
âNow, they’re nurturing me to be in business through events. We’re doing the picnic for the first time and hope it’ll grow bigger event.â
She said she has no plans to leave Touch Africa, owned by Mdu Ngcobo.
âI donât see myself leaving Touch Africa but when I want to start my own recording label, I donât think they will refuse.
âMdu is always supportive and nurtures me, also through this journey of organising events,â she said.
