Makhadzi welcomed by family & government officials after winning BET award
Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport was abuzz with excitement as Ndivhudzannyi “Makhadzi” Ralivhona, the BET Award winner, arrived on Wednesday morning.
The Limpopo-born star had just won the prestigious Viewers’ Choice: Best New International Act award in Los Angeles the previous Sunday, and her homecoming was greeted with thunderous applause, cheers, and ululations from adoring fans and family members.
Makhadzi, beaming with pride, held the award high as she expressed her excitement and gratitude for the recognition of her hard work. She emphasized that her success was the result of her unwavering dedication and belief in herself, even in the face of humble beginnings, such as performing in taverns.
Makhadzi’s journey serves as an inspiration, as she confidently declared that her price is now set to rise, and her sights are set on the coveted Grammy Awards next.
“I deserved this, I worked hard for this. I’m here today because of the hard work I put in. I used to perform in taverns, but because I’ve always believed in myself and loved my craft, I’m here with support of my fans,” she said.
The young artist’s triumph was not without its challenges, as she had to borrow money to attend the BET Awards ceremony due to a debt owed to the South African Revenue Service. However, Makhadzi saw this as a testament to her faith, believing that God had heard her prayers and blessed her with the award, which she sees as a means to repay her debts and multiply her earnings.
With a message of hope and self-belief, Makhadzi encouraged other young Africans to follow their dreams, stay true to themselves, and have confidence in their abilities, for nothing is impossible when one believes in the power of their own potential and the divine guidance that can lead them to greatness.
“Black child, you must believe in yourself, believe in your dreams, stay true to yourself, and everything is possible.I think I’m a miracle child. If you know where I started and where I come from until today, God brought me to this world so that those who don’t believe in his miracles can believe,” she said
