Makhadzi No-Show Sparks Chaos as ‘Fake’ Artist Claims Emerge

The South African Police Service has confirmed that a manhunt has been launched after an event headlined by Makhadzi descended into chaos on Friday.

The incident took place at the Makwassie Stadium at the Annual Fun Games and Music Festival according to North West police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh.

Makhadzi no-show believed to provoked crowd
The crowd had reportedly become enraged after Makhadzi failed to materialise on stage during the festival, resulting in widespread damage to the property.

“Reports suggest that attendees of the Annual Fun Games and Music Festival were unhappy when the lead singer did not pitch up and went on a rampage. The stage and other equipment were burnt down to an estimated value of close to R3 million.” Colonel Adéle Myburgh

Myburgh explained that a manhunt was launched in response to the incident but confirmed that no arrests have been made as yet.

“Police request anyone who may have information that can assist in the investigation to contact the Station Commander of Makwassie, Capt Bereng Hlasa, on 082 575 8377 or the South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Stop number: 08600 10111. Anonymous tip-offs can also be communicated via the MySAPS App from your smart phone.” Colonel Adéle Myburgh

Reports of ‘fake’ Makhadzi surfacing
While Makhadzi herself has remained silent on the situation that provoked such a strong response strange allegations are surfacing that an impersonator had performed at the show instead of the artist herself.

A video has surfaced online claiming that the footage was of an individual performing in Makhadzi’s place during the festival. The artist has yet to release any statement on the unusual situation, but many fans are demanding answers.

“I’m not saying the violence was warranted but why bring out a Makhadzi from Temu? The organisers must take full responsibility.” @Thapz__

“This happened somewhere in the North West. Allegedly, the promoter lied to the community by saying Makhadzi is going to perform. When she didn’t pitch, the crowd lost it and burned the stage. False Advertising is wrong and dangerous.” @Tsele_MK

“Imagine people paid and traveled from all over the North West to see Makhadzi live only to be given a Makhadzi from Temu. The people burned down the stage and stoned the Fake Makhadzi in retaliation, can we blame them? Makhadzi why didn’t you Pitch in Makwassie?” @ApstDeza
