Londie London’s ex-lover shot dead!
AN ex-lover of a famous singer and reality TV star Londie London has been shot dead.
Businessman Bongani Maocuana, also known as Sphamandla Mabonga, was killed in a shoot-out outside a popular restaurant, Solo, in Sandton, north of Joburg on Thursday night, on 6 March.
Sphamandla was allegedly involved in a deadly confrontation that resulted in his death and the loss of several other lives.
According to reports, the incident happened outside Solo Restaurant, located at 24 Central in Sandton, a district renowned for its bustling nightlife.
Londie, a cast member of the popular reality TV show Real Housewives of Joburg, had been dating the businessman for a while.
The couple would spoil each other with gifts and share their splurge on social media.
At one point, the two lovers posted a video of Londie gifting him a Dolce Gabbana gift bag while dancing and holding a black big gun.
Soon after that, the couple parted ways after the shoot-out incident that involved Sphamandla at another restaurant in 2024.
The incident that shocked Mzansi on Friday morning was confirmed by local authorities.
A violent altercation allegedly began when Sphamandla attempted to enter the restaurant while carrying a firearm.
The restaurant, which enforces a strict non-firearm policy, was the site of a heated exchange between Sphamandla, his bodyguards, and the restaurant’s security personnel.
Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that the shoot-out escalated rapidly, resulting in the deaths of Sphamandla and two of his bodyguards at the scene.
Four others, including two patrons, a community policing forum (CPF) member, and a security guard, were injured and rushed to the hospital.
Sphamandla later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
“The police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder following a shooting incident that claimed the lives of three people and left four injured last night at a restaurant in Sandton,” said Colonel Nevhuhulwi.
The police investigation revealed that Sphamandla attempted to enter the venue with a firearm, leading to a clash with security guards that sparked a deadly exchange of gunfire.
He was previously arrested in 2024 following a shooting at Tempo nightclub in Sandton, where he allegedly opened fire on security staff after being denied entry for carrying a weapon.
In response, the bouncers shot him eight times, and he was subsequently taken to Joburg General Hospital.
Authorities are continuing their investigation of attempted murder, with no arrests being made at this time.
This is not the first time Sphamandla has been embroiled in controversy.
In addition to the 2024 shooting incidents, he had been under investigation for allegedly assaulting a female journalist at Konka, a celebrity-frequented nightclub in Pimville, Soweto.
He was also being investigated for suspected fraudulent activity in the purchase of vehicles through a financial institution.
The investigation into this shooting is ongoing.
Daily Sun reached out to Londie London for comment, but she has yet to respond.
Meanwhile, the Solo Restaurant responded following the incident.
“As management of Solo Restaurant, we wish to confirm that a security breach incident occurred at our establishment on the evening of 6 March, as reported in the media. This tragic event resulted in the loss of three lives, and four of our individuals were left injured.
