Londie London’s Ex-Lover Mabonga Killed in Sandton Nightclub Shootout
Tragedy Strikes at Solo Nightclub
In a shocking turn of events, Sphamandla Mabonga, former lover of reality star and singer Londie London, was fatally shot outside Solo nightclub at 24 Central in Sandton. The incident, which occurred on the night of March 6, 2025, has left three people dead and four others injured.
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed the tragic event, stating that authorities are currently investigating cases of murder and attempted murder. The chaos that unfolded outside the nightclub has raised concerns about security and gun violence in high-end areas like Sandton.
What Happened That Night?
According to police reports, the altercation began when a man, allegedly armed with a gun, attempted to enter the restaurant. The establishment enforces a strict no-firearm policy, which led to an argument. The situation quickly escalated into a violent shootout between the man’s bodyguards and the nightclub’s security team.
Two bodyguards lost their lives at the scene, while five other individuals were injured. Among the injured were two patrons who were caught in the crossfire, a Community Police Forum (CPF) member, and a security guard. All were rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, Mabonga succumbed to his injuries.
Mabonga’s Troubled Past
This is not the first time Mabonga’s name has been linked to violence. In January 2024, he was involved in another nightclub shootout at Tempo nightclub, also in Sandton, where he was shot in the ribs. Reports from that incident indicated that an argument escalated into gunfire, leading to injuries.
Later, in March 2024, Mabonga was arrested for allegedly instigating a confrontation with security guards at a nightclub in Sunninghill. He was reportedly carrying a firearm at the time, and when denied entry, he opened fire on the security personnel.
Additionally, he had been under investigation for various offenses, including an alleged assault on a female journalist at the celebrity hotspot Konka in Soweto and accusations of fraudulently acquiring luxury vehicles.
A Stark Reminder of Violence and Gun Control
The death of Mabonga highlights ongoing concerns about gun control and violence in nightlife hotspots. While Sandton is often perceived as a high-security area, this incident proves that crime can occur anywhere. Innocent bystanders were caught in the crossfire, turning what should have been a night of fun into a nightmare.
This tragedy also raises questions about the choices people make and the environments they immerse themselves in. While Mabonga’s past was riddled with violent encounters, his untimely death is still a sobering reminder of how quickly situations can spiral out of control.
Londie London and the Aftermath
Though Londie London and Mabonga had parted ways, the news of his death is likely devastating for her. Losing someone with whom you once shared a connection, regardless of the circumstances, is never easy.
As investigations continue, authorities are working to determine the full extent of what transpired that fateful night. No arrests have been made yet, but police are committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
This developing story serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the dangers of a lifestyle entangled with violence. Hopefully, this tragic incident sparks conversations about security measures, conflict resolution, and the broader issue of gun control in South Africa.
