‘Lobola Man’ star Lawrence Maleka says he’s single
Actor Lawrence Maleka, who plays a smooth-talker, Ace Ngubeni in ‘Lobola Man’ says he’s single and ready to mingle.
Fan-favourite actor Lawrence Maleka who recently scored the role of Ace Ngubeni in Lobola Man opens up about his love life.
LAWRENCE MALEKA: ‘MY LOVE STORY WILL HAPPEN’
The former The River actor Lawrence Maleka confirms to Sowetan that he is still single and ready for a relationship.
Maleka also shares that he’s a nerd who likes to stick to himself and he’s single but is hopeful it will happen.
“I’m a nerd who likes to stick to himself. However, I haven’t been blessed with the fortune of love… hopefully it will happen. Unfortunately, I haven’t met my Zandile [Ace’s love interest in the film] yet, but I have hopes that I will.”
“Being unlucky in love has nothing to do with my parents. In fact, they are part of the problem because I got to witness what I think love should be from them. Now it isn’t easy to find such a lovely story like theirs.
“I love how after so many years, my parents are still in love with each other.”

BACKGROUND: ‘LOBOLA MAN’
The talented actor Lawrence Maleka portrays a smooth-talker and family wooer named Ace Ngubeni in Lobola Man.
His character Ace is also a successful lobola negotiator and bachelor who questions the existence of love.
He however finds his perspective challenged when he meets Zandile played by Kwanele Mthethwa.
In the film, Ace takes on a new client, Duke Maseko played by Sandile Mahlangu who enlists his help with the lobola negotiations.
What starts as a typical job for Ace quickly turns complicated and forces him to confront his own beliefs about love and relationships.
The film also stars Sandile Mahlangu as Duke Maseko while Nimrod Nkosi plays Kwanele Mthethwa’s on-screen father.
Other actors include Thembsie Matu, Obed Baloyi, Sello Ramolahloane, Themba Ndaba, Sthandile Nkosi and Primo Baloyi.
Lobola Man celebrates love and the cultural significance of lobola with a modern, humorous twist, sure to capture the hearts of audiences everywhere.
