Top actors embrace rivalry for Soweto Derby
They aim to demonstrate that there’s no need for physical confrontations between fans of these two teams, regardless of the match’s outcome.
They hope to reignite the friendly rivalry of the Soweto Derby, where fans can boast about their teams and engage in playful banter without resorting to violence.
These long-time friends, who often tease each other on Facebook about their teams’ performances, were inspired to watch the game with fans, knowing that their followers enjoy their lighthearted rivalry over the Soweto Derby.
While Pirates and Chiefs clash at FNB Stadium in Joburg on Saturday, 1 February, Wiseman and Thembinkosi will face off in Durban, KZN.
Wiseman’s bold prediction
Wiseman and Thembinkosi will watch the live stream of the Soweto Derby at The Villa in Durban, surrounded by other enthusiastic fans.

Wiseman, who is renowned for his roles on Uzalo, Shaka iLembe, and My Brother’s Keeper, predicts a 3-1 victory for Chiefs against Pirates.
“We want people to know that teasing each other about the Soweto Derby doesn’t mean we must physically fight.
“It’s the soccer culture that we have to tease each other and brag about our teams respectively, and we want to revive that culture where everything comes to a standstill during the Soweto Derby,” he said.
Friendship in the heat of battle
Wiseman said they normally attend the Soweto Derby with Thembinkosi to watch it live at the stadium, but this time, they decided to watch the live stream with the fans.
“During the match, Thembinkosi and I are not friends, but after the match, we are friends again and tease each other if one of our teams loses.
“We’ve realised that many people are teasing each other on Facebook about the Soweto Derby and bragging that their team will win. We know that not all of them will make it to FNB. That’s why we decided to be with them,” he said.
Thembinkosi’s confident prediction
Thembinkosi said they want to enjoy the game and will ensure Chiefs fans stay on one side while Pirates fans remain on the other.
“We want to enjoy teasing each other with no physical fights. We want the derby to have a big hype like before going forward and unite people,” he said.
Thembinkosi added that Pirates will win with many goals.
