L-Tido hits back at DJ Maphorisa over Sir Trill’s royalties drama
L-Tido and DJ Maphorisa had a war of words on social media following the rapper and podcaster’s interview with singer Sir Trill.
Rapper and podcaster Thato Madonsela, better known as L-Tido, has hit back at DJ Maphorisa for taking a jab at him on social media over the exploitation claims made by singer Sir Trill.
SIR TRILL’S EXPLOITATION CLAIMS
In a recent interview on L-Tido’s YouTube podcast, Sir Trill – real name Tumelo Zwane – opened up about a “grootman” in the music industry who has allegedly been exploiting him.
According to the Emlanjeni hitmaker, the grootman in question (whom many believe to be Themba “Maphorisa” Sekowe) has been preventing other artists from collaborating with him.
“Why is everybody asking me, if everybody thinks like that, I dont wanna say nothing about nobody because sometimes it gets too dangerous it might even threaten your life. But I still respect that person as a elder (grootman) but you know yourself and it’s not just me who is going through it. Others are just scared to say,” said Sir Trill on L-Tido’s podcast.
The allegations by Sir Trill are nothing new as he’s previously shared on social media that he has never received money for his music.
DJ MAPHORISA DEFENDS HIMSELF
In response to the allegations, Maphorisa posted screenshots of a bank payment he purportedly made to Sir Trill on 27 July 2023 referenced “MNG Royalties”. The screenshot was accompanied by their conversation from the same month.
The New Money Gang Records, boss further slmed Sir Trill, claiming that the singer sabotaged his own career by not pitching to gigs.
Maphorisa also dragged L-Tido into his controversy with a Setswana slur about the rapper’s mother.
“Maybe his talking about other Grootman’s this young man needs help. I remember him not going to the Music Video ya De Mthuda John Wick I knew we gonna have a problem here. Self sabotage n Karma from all the promoters u fucked not pitching those gigs. N F**K L-tido Ny*mao san [sic],” wrote DJ Maphorisa.
L-TIDO HITS BACK
L-Tido also hit back with an expletive, further accusing Maphorisa of being a coward.
“Phori you a f*cken coward M*rete a gao… I literally did not say sh*t about you; deal with the people you are robbing, not me,” wrote L-Tido.
