Kelly Khumalo threatens to SUE amid Shahan apology

Kelly Khumalo is seeking legal action amid eNCA news anchor Shahan Ramkissoon’s apology for mistakenly announcing her death.

Kelly Khumalo has threatened to sue eNCA after news anchor Shahan Ramkissoon mistakenly announced that she had died.

Shahan rectified his words on air, revealing he had meant to say the name Winnie Khumalo instead.

Kelly’s reaction comes amid the journalist’s formal apology in a social media post.

Winnie, also a celebrated singer, died of health complications at the age of 51.

KELLY KHUMALO THREATENS TO SUE ENCA

On Tuesday evening, eNCA broke the sad news of Winnie Khumalo’s death. However, news anchor Shahan Ramkissoon made a major fumble when he mistakenly mentioned Kelly Khumalo’s name instead.

An enraged Kelly lashed out at the news channel in an Instagram post, accusing them of being “reckless, ignorant, and disrespectful.”.

While Shahan apologised for his mix-up on air, Kelly insisted in the comments section: “I don;t care. This is reckless, period!”

She added: “Put yourself in my shoes” and “too late” following the apology.

Kelly Khumalo also threatened to sue the channel, commenting, “Start calling our legal team. We are about to be rich!”

SHAHAN RAMKISSOON OFFERS A BACKHANDED APOLOGY?

Meanwhile, Shahan Ramkissoon has tweeted an apology for his on-air mix-up.

Without mentioning or tagging Kelly Khumalo, he posted on X: “I made an honest mistake, which I corrected shortly afterward on air. It was a slip of the tongue as I ad-libbed the story. I take full responsibility for the error”.

The eNCA veteran then unashamedly added: “To those seeking to amplify this for attention: do what you must [to] trend and stay blessed.”

In the comments section of his tweet, a few read between the lines of the post.

@Lehz227: “Say this but with a lot more humility next time!”

@MkMagz: “The last sentence is unnecessary.”

@gmashala: “You could have just left it at the apology. There was no need for the rest.”
