In Shock! Cyril’s Political Enemy In Nepotism Scandal

On Thursday, President Cyril Ramaphosa made changes to his Cabinet and Lindiwe Sisulu was one of the minister who was reshuffled. She was moved from the Human Settlements and Water Affairs ministry to the ministry of Tourism. According to some political analysts, this change has nothing to do with improving the country or service delivery,

but for the benefit of President Ramaphosa who is seeking a second term. It is argued that President Ramaphosa wants his allies close to him and Sisulu was reshuffled because she doesn’t belong to his faction, the CR faction.

According to City Press, Sisulu – who is Cyril’s political enemy – is involved in nepotism scandal. Allegations have emerged of how Sisulu delayed the appointments of top executives on the Amatola Water Board. It is understood that she did this because her preferred candidates did not make the cut.

It is also understood that a former chief executive officer was purged for refusing to pay a company millions without following the proper procurement processes. Nepotism has been the order of the day since the advent of democracy and it is not a surprise that it is continuing.

As Sisulu was alleged to meddled in the process, the board ended up with two chairpersons. Sisulu, who is expected to campaign for the African National Congress presidency in 2022, was moved to the Tourism ministry to neutralise her.

These allegations against her were contained in an anonymous letter to the Parliament’s water and sanitation portfolio committee. Claims by some concerned workers at the Eastern Cape water utility Implicate Sisulu’s office in human resources irregularities, as well as financial scandals.

In the anonymous letter, Mphumzi Mdekazi, Sisulu’s adviser at the Amatola Water, requested R60 million from the department for drought relief, but got much more than they had asked for. According to the letter, this was proof that an official from Sisulu’s office was trying to control Amatola’s affairs.
