One of the appointments that raised eyebrows was that of Zoleka Capa who was made the deputy minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and land reform.

Popular media personality Redo Tlhabi revealed that Rosemary Nokuzola Capa who is now serving as the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Reform was once in R55 million corruption allegations.

It is alleged that during the time Rosemary Nokuzola Capa was O.R Tambo mayor she allegedly paid R55 million on behalf of the municipality to buy five farms in Kwa-Zulu Natal and the farms were in a state of decay while being managed by Brings development agency which was being headed by her husband.

“How did that other matter end? She was the mayor of O. R Tambo and allegedly paid R55 million on behalf of the municipality, to buy five farms in KwaZulu-Natal? Farms were in a state of decay and managed by Ntinga Dev Agency? An agency headed by her husband? In Shock: Cyril Appoints Ally As Minister, But She Faces R55 Million Corruption Allegations 3

Capa was Deputy Minister of Small Business Development from May 2019 to August 2021 when she was moved to Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Reform ministry.

The appointment of someone with a questionable reputation into cabinet by president Cyril Ramaphosa led many to wonder whether or not the president is serious about rooting out corruption beginning with his own comrades.

“The list of compromised political office bearers in the ANC-led government is always expanding. What it means is that ethical leadership in this government is an exception. The implications are massive,” some argued.

“Rather ask how did Ramaphosa deploy her? We thought Ramaphosa does not want anything associated with corruption. Instead of blaming Ramaphosa you busy slandering the deputy minister. When are you guys going to make Ramaphosa account for his failures?

Many social critics feel president Cyril Ramaphosa is not walking the talk of dealing decisively with corruption especially when it comes to his own ANC comrades.
